What this paper is about
Edit What this paper is about Content
This paper examines methodologies used to assess risk associated with a range of geohazards from high frequency/low magnitude to low frequency/high magnitude events. A specific focus is on dealing with extreme value prediction, and assessing risk with uncertain data.

How this paper will be taught
Edit How this paper will be taught Content
The paper will be taught by a combination of presentations by staff, and student presentations based on reviewing of published case studies.
The specific hazards and associated risk investigated by the students will be negotiated by the students.

The internal assessment is intended to develop the ability to synthesise published material into succinct summaries of the salient points, provide useful analyses of potential risk, and to present this information to end-users.
Edit How you will be assessed Content
The internal assessment/exam ratio (as stated in the University Calendar) is 60:40. The final exam makes up 40% of the overall mark.
